Rotafix Aquachem is a solvent free, 2-part liquid epoxy coating used primarily for the tanking of concrete and masonry surfaces. Rotafix Aquachem can be applied to an external surface to prevent water penetrating into the building this is called positive pressure. Alternatively it can be applied to internal walls to prevent water penetrating into the building this is negative pressure.
Aquachem it is commonly used in conjunction with Rendacrete self levelling screed to provide a damp proof membrane. It has been approved by F Ball for use with its Stopgap 1200 levelling screed. If the Aquachem going to be overlayed with a cement based product from either F Ball or Rotafix it will be necessary to broadcast/scatter grit or sand onto the wet final coat of the Rotafix Aquachem.
By using the 3 coat Rotafix Aquachem system a damp proof membrane is formed. It can be used for tanking cellars, water tanks and swimming pools. It has also been used to tank the ceilings of concrete underground car parks to prevent lime from the cements used to produce the concrete from dripping on to the vehicles parked in the car park.
Being solvent free Rotafix Aquachem is safe for marine life and for potable water storage solutions. It is commonly used in marine applications to prevent algae from adhering to surfaces such as the hull of a boat where algae and barnicles could hinder performance.
Rotafix Aquachem can be spray applied with a high volume low pressure air system. Making it easy to apply to large areas that are rough or textured.
Rotafix Aquachem is best applied as three thin coats, 1 .primer and 2 top coats. For slip resistance it is possible to add dynagrit to the top coat to create a textured finish.
